How to make great social media ads in 2021.

Ads are annoying. That’s a fact.

In the feed, between stories and in the streets, there are ads everywhere. They are annoying and nobody wants to see them.

However, working in marketing becomes a challenge nowadays, not only because the attention span has sinked but also because the amount of ads we see is huge. That’s why is so important for marketers to see their own ads from a very critical point of view. I will tell you why.

You didn’t ask for them.

Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok users never asked for ads. That’s the reason why users will be annoyed by the fact of watching some random videos of products while watching their friend’s last story or a funny video. As a Marketer you have to keep this mind while producing concepts for ads. They have to look native and don’t really disturb the vibe of the platform. In this way the users won’t feel invaded by capitalism ;)

They are boring.

We all know the Super Bowl spots, right? And why? Because they are cool. You enjoy watching them. This kind of feeling is missing a lot in social media advertising. Imagine you are on Instagram looking beautiful landscape pictures and suddenly you see a video of a boy trying different wigs in a low quality video. You will skip it immediately. Give the user things they want to see. They are on Instagram? Give them a beautiful picture of your product. They are on TikTok? Give them a funny video made by creators.

They are skippable.

You don’t really have to watch ads until the end. But think about the times you do it voluntary. What makes you do it? That’s what I call the magical 2 seconds. Make the first 2 seconds of your ads eye-catchy and create a kind of curiosity. This is the most important thing to consider when it comes to produce concepts. Yes, your message can be excellent, and it could really catch the attention of one person but if the person skip the ad your view was a waste.

So if you want to make great ads, hate them and learn why other should watch them.
